Dirty South BCN
Place In Barcelona Category: All Restaurants: Flame Grilled and Slow Food
When most people in this city think of American cuisine, they understandably think, “hamburgers and fries” – but we have so much more to offer you than fast food!
Enjoy a classic cocktail like a smooth, strong Sazerac from New Orleans, or a refreshing Kentucky Mint Julep in our lounge bar, before dining in true Southern style: on bold flavours, prepared with a lot of love! Our kitchen and bar use fresh, seasonal ingredients to bring authentic Cajun, Barbecue, Lowcountry and Creole flavours to Barcelona.
The South is America’s most fascinating region – an intoxicating mix of the refined and the chaotic, of good manners and informality, of modernity and history, and those characteristics are reflected in the food culture above all else. A typical Southern evening might be spent sipping elegant cocktails under a magnolia tree after the shimmering heat of a summer’s day, or spent drinking ice cold beer and licking barbecue sauce off fingers sticky and smoky from ribs straight off the grill.
So you’ll always find a warm welcome and fantastic food, whether you’re reclining into a Bottomless Bloody Mary Brunch on a fuzzy weekend morning, or drinking cocktail after cocktail over one of our messy Lowcountry Boils with a table of friends (be prepared to get your hands dirty!).
Gather your loved ones and bring them down to experience the charm, hospitality and warmth of a Southern kitchen and bar. We can’t wait to see you!
Katie & Theo
Katie and Theo O’Donnell are the husband and wife team behind Dirty South. Katie’s childhood and youth was spent and misspent across the Deep South of the US, giving her a true appreciation for the hospitality at the heart of Southern life. She shared her love for the cuisine of the South with Theo soon after they met in London, introducing him to a world of flavours and traditions on road trips that were always more about the food and the people than the scenery. This shared passion for eating great food in great company led them inevitably to the restaurant business, after Theo abandoned his job as a banker in London in search of a more fulfilling career and readier access to excellent cocktails. Together, they sold their house and moved to their favourite city, Barcelona, excited by the prospect of introducing a new cuisine to a town with such a vibrant food scene. They are delighted to have put together an experienced team of creative, talented people for the restaurant and bar, and are extremely grateful for the warm welcome that they have received in this beautiful city by the sea.
